Welcome to North Beach Surf Life Saving Club
North Beach is located in Christchurch, on the East coast of the South Island, New Zealand. We are situated north of the New Brighton Pier at 80 Marine Parade, North Beach.
We are a non-profit, volunteer based organisation committed to the prevention of drowning and injury in the North Beach and wider area. North Beach Surf Lifesaving Club was formally establised in 1916, and we celebrated our Centenary in October 2016. For the 100 years this club has patrolled our stretch of beach, not one life has been lost while a patrol has been on duty.
North Beach Surf Life Saving Club patrol the local beach from November through to March conducting patrols on Saturdays from 1pm – 5pm and Sundays 10am – 5pm, with lifeguards also on duty daily over the summer school holiday period.
We have an active membership of junior (competing ages 7-13 years,) and senior members (14 years +) and offer safety and fitness training, competitive surf sports and camaraderie to all our members. We also have an under 6 membership with children participating in activities on Sunday mornings with the rest of our junior members.
We welcome new members so if you have an interest in sport, life guarding or meeting new people we have a niche for you. Click on the Lifeguarding link at the top.
